Episode one focuses on energy savings, and spotlights simple steps individuals can take to conserve energy in the work place. Each film runs under three minutes in length. The role of environmental superhero isn't new to Shapiro. In fact, in the early 1990's Shapiro created Captain Recycle, Boca Ciega High School's masked marvel of all things green and recyclable. "I was a science teacher at the time, and the state of Florida had just passed a law requiring communities to recycle a certain percentage of their waste," Shapiro recalled. "I wanted to get a recycling center started at the school, so I started a club we called Eco-Action." The club gathered and recycled aluminum cans, paper, cardboard and Styrofoam. (NYT) While law schools added about 3000 seats for first-year students from 1993 to 2008 both the percentage and the number of black and Mexican-American law students declined in that period, according to a study by a Columbia Law School professor. What makes the declines particularly troubling, said the professor, Conrad Johnson, is that in that same period, both groups improved their college grade-point averages and their scores on the Law School Admission Test, or LSAT Even though their scores and grades are improving, and are very close to those of white applicants, African-Americans and Mexican-Americans are increasingly being shut out of law schools, said Mr. Johnson, who oversees the Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic at Columbia, which collaborated with the Society of American Law Teachers to examine minority enrollment rates at American law schools. Louis Stokes featured on VVH-TV "American Dreams Show"

Retired Congressman Louis Stokes is featured on VVH-TV's The American Dreams Show with host Ingrid Lemme. The half hour program was taped at Gurney's Inn, Montauk, New York on December 6th, 2008. Congressman Stokes played a pivotal role in the quest for civil rights, equality and social and economic justice throughout his tenure in the Unites States Congress. Mr. Stokes was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools, graduating from Central High School. Following three years of service in the United States Army, he returned to Cleveland and attended Western Reserve University. He earned his Doctor of Laws Degree from Cleveland Marshal Law School in 1953. Prior to serving in Congress, Mr. Stokes practiced Law for 14 years and was one of the founders of Stokes, Character, Terry, Perry, Whitehead, Young and Davidson law firm. As a practicing lawyer, Mr. Stokes participated in three cases in the United States Supreme Court, including arguing the landmark "stop and frisk" case of Terry v. Ohio. On November 6, 1968, Mr. Stokes was elected to the United States Congress and became the first African American member of Congress from the State of Ohio. He served fifteen consecutive terms in the US House of Representative, ranking 11 th overall in House seniority.
